Northamptonshire -Outbuilding Conversion to Annex
Design & Build
Project Overview
Kree8 converted an existing outbuilding into a characterful and highly insulated annex. The accommodation comprised of an en-suite living area and single bedroom. Kree8 designed the scheme and also carried out a full construction service to realize the architects vision.
Our Solution
Kree8 liased with the client & the planners to obtain planning permission for the barn conversion. The design used a feature gothic arch window that would allow light the flood the space. The concept was for the scheme to have rhythm in terms of the roof, but also foor walls to step back to give interest and reduce the scale in its appearance.
The internal and external appearance was enhanced whilst being sympathetic to the surrounding traditional house. Reclaimed materials were used throughout the whole project to give a timeless asthetic.
The Result
A traditional appearance architecturally with an open plan layout that suited the clients needs. The final result was a building that looked as if it had been there for many years. The architect sourced much of the reclaimed materials. It was key to achieve a finish that made the best use of traditional materials and architectural features.
Kree8 were friendly, polite and always kept us informed during the design & build process. We have been impressed with the approach of Architect Matt Lewis in terms of the design, costing & build. The annex was for our elderly mother who settled in very comfortably once the project was completed.
